ABOUT

Joanie has been part of the culinary scene in the neighbouring areas of Boston for over 30 years.  After graduating Honours Cum Laude from the culinary department at a Massachusetts university, she went on to become a chef at the New England Country Inn, and after the Executive Chef at Strawberry Hills Country Club.

After guest appearances on morning shows, print features, and launching her own restaurant, she realized she had an overwhelming desire to do something more.  She realized her passion for food was equal to her passion for teaching, history, and food appreciation.  In 2010, she decided to make her way into a new kitchen, the kitchen of a culinary arts department at a private college in Massachusetts.

Chef Joanie now teaches future chefs the foundations of flavour and the origins of American regional cuisine.  Her passion for food and teaching shines through the computer screen as she tells you the history of her famous Bostonian dishes.  You’ll probably hear a few Red Sox stories, too.  She can’t wait to share her knowledge of traditional New England cuisine with The Chef & The Dish.
