Specialty Ingredients

Shopping for our cooking classes is half the fun.  Head out to your nearest specialty store to find authentic ingredients to ensure your dish turns out just like it would in its home country. No speciality shops near you?  Just buy them online.

This important spice is essential to nearly all Hungarian cooking and is more flavourful than typical paprika found in North America.

Hungarian Paprika

Eros Pista is Hungarian hot sauce on nearly ever table in Hungary. It's used as a spread or added to stews to provide extra heat.

Caraway

Bonito flakes are dried, fermented and smoked Skipjack tuna and essential in many Japanese dishes. They're the foundation of many soup broths.

Used as a flavour enhancer to some of the most well-known Japanese dishes. It combines Kombu and Bonito Flakes and as used to produce stock. 

Dashi

Edible kelp mostly harvested from the seas in Japan and Korea. Kombu is a key ingredient in Dashi, or Japanese stock.

Mirin

A subtly sweet and tangy rice wine and an important flavour in many Japanese dishes.
