Italian chef & sommelier Valter Roman lives in the Tuscan town of Lucca but has family ties in Milan, Verona and the beautiful Dolomite mountains close to the Austrian border. Like many Italians, he was brought up in the kitchen with nonna Anna who spent all day cooking for her large family.
Following his culinary studies, he gained experience in restaurants in Milan, Rome and London where he specialized for 3 years in pastry. On his return to Italy he studied for 3 years with the Italian Sommelier Association which complimented his vast kitchen knowledge. He opened up his kitchen, The Tuscan Chef, to welcome food and wine enthusiasts from all over the world.
A passionate advocate of using fresh, seasonal produce and traditional methods of cooking, Valter believes that creating a meal is not just about weights and measures and following a recipe but of feeling and instinct and sharing a hands-on experience accompanied by great kitchen camaraderie.
He looks forward to welcoming you into his kitchen with The Chef and The Dish cooking classes to share, discover and explore the tastes, textures and flavours of true Italian cooking as you create great dishes from Italy together!
