Taste the Culinary Gems of Santorini in this Private Greek Cooking Class

Transport to Greece with Chef Anna, joining you live from the beautiful islands of the country to teach you the history and artistry behind some of the island's most iconic dishes. Discover the secrets of crafting traditional Santorini cuisine, a testament to the island's rich heritage.

First, you delve into Fava Pantremeni, a beloved Santorinian dish. Fava, a yellow split pea puree, is a staple of the island's cuisine. Its history dates back centuries when Santorini was an important trading hub. The dish pays homage to the island's seafaring past, featuring simple yet profound flavors, including the distinct earthiness of Santorini's volcanic soil.

The Traditional Horiatiki Salad with Sun-Dried Tomatoes reflects the island's agricultural abundance. The fertile volcanic soil yields intensely flavorful produce that have made the Horiatiki salad the essential Greek flavor. This iconic salad is loved world over, and in this class, you'll learn the simple yet artful techniques to bringing the authentic flavors into your kitchen.

Lastly, you delve into the timeless classic, Roasted Lamb Kleftiko. Historically, Lamb Kleftiko was a dish prepared by Greek rebels, the "Klefts," who used to cook it in underground pits to avoid detection by the Ottomans. Today, it's a symbol of Santorini's culinary legacy, where the tender lamb, aromatic herbs, vegetables and local cheese harmonize in a flavorful masterpiece.

Chef Anna

Chef Anna

Syros, Greece

Chef Anna’s love of food started when she began working as a server at the young age of 16 at an Italian restaurant on the Greek island, Syros. She went on to study design in Milano, Italy and stayed there for 5 years. Afterwards, she returned to Syros and began working in restaurants. She fell in love with the energy she felt in the kitchen. She opened her own restaurant at the age of 29. She went on to create and operate 3 restaurants over 12 years. This is when her chef career really began. Her passion is Mediterranean cuisine and she loves to cook with open fire. An Argentinian grill and an Italian wood fired oven were incorporated into her restaurant kitchens. During the economic crisis in Greece she moved and worked in restaurants around Europe, London, Copenhagen, Napoli and Malta. Now, back in her hometown, she now works as a freelance private chef in Syros. She owes her success to her parents who taught her the importance of good food and good company.

Join Chef Anna as she takes you on a cultural journey to discover the foods of Greece. In Greece it is all about Mezé. Italians have antipasti, the Spanish have tapas, the French have canapés, and the Greeks have Mezé. Mezé is a way of living in Greece. They are present in daily life and it’s how they socialize. Chef Anna is looking forward to bringing you into her Greek kitchen and bringing her food into yours.
