Cranberry season is in full swing. Over 14,000 acres of cranberry bogs cover Cape Cod and the South Eastern part of Massachusetts. Those lucky enough to travel to this wonderful part of the world can visit a farm to get an up close experience.
With all those freshly harvested cranberries lining the grocery stores, what better time than now to experiment with a new recipe?
Let's get started with something simple and so rewarding! We just love Sugared Cranberries! So festive and brightly colored, they make for a gorgeous addition to any holiday table. Give these a try as a sweet and tart snack, or even decorate desserts!
SUGARED CRANBERRIES WITH ORANGE ZEST
INGREDIENTS
1 & 1/2 cups cranberries
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
Zest of 1 Orange
METHOD
Bring water and sugar to a boil with the zest of one orange. Pour over 1 1/2 cups of fresh cranberries and cool for 1 hour. Drain, then roll the cranberries in 1/2 cup of sugar in a half sheet pan. The sugar sticks especially well if you have a slightly courser sugar. Let dry for 4 hours. Enjoy!
