Learn how to make traditional Peruvian empanadas, three ways

Each culture in the world has their version of stuffed dough. And while the origins of empanadas aren't entirely clear, these handheld treats are popular across a number of Latin countries. Golden pockets of flakey deliciousness, filled with a fragrant and flavourful filling… There's a reason why empanadas are eaten throughout the day across Peru. Good thing that in this class you’ll learn how to make three-traditional and popular variations of these baked little savoury pies.

In this private virtual cooking class, your chef - video calling into your kitchen live from Peru, will teach you about the origins of this dish as you roll out your homemade dough. You'll learn about the unique landscape of Peru, it’s people, culture and of course, the history of the empanada. You’ll start the class by making the most traditional empanada first, made with spiced, ground beef.  You’ll prep your second empanada, this one with cheese and corn as the first batch bake and your oven releases the most wonderful scents through your kitchen. And last but not least, you’ll prepare a Chicken and Mushroom Empanada. These gorgeous handheld treats are perfect for a midday snack, dinner, or an impromptu appetizer. Pop the extras in your freezer and you'll have ready-made treats for when you have unexpected guests!
